I have the 11’ 3wt

I have the 11’ 3wt. I have fished it a handful of times now and love it!! As a comp angler, accuracy and hook set capability is key. With the gen 4 there is no sacrifice on anything. Great product and I look forward to to adding more Diamondback products to my arsenal.

Truly one of the greatest rods I’ve ever fished

Truly one of the greatest rods I’ve ever fished anywhere from stacking numbers on a high density stream or fighting monstrous brown trout the gen 4 10’7 2 weight does it all

Excellent Option

After dipping my toes into euro for a while with a cheaper rod, I wanted to fully commit with something nice. On the recommendation from Bulletproof Bugs, I went with the 10' 2 wt Gen IV. Fished it most of last summer and fall and as a guy coming from a variety of rods on the more budget side of things, the finish, feel, and function of the Gen IV have been a true step up. It's handled a variety of nymph rigs, light streamers, and is not half bad with a standard line and dry fly in the right situation. Lastly, Joe has been super helpful and responsive to all my questions. My Brother just ordered an Aeroflex and I'm sure there are more DBs in my future. Thanks Joe!

Gen IV took me from 3 to 40 Trout in the first day

I am good at trout fishing everywhere but in the Midwest most of the time. 28" Rainbow footballs on the Kenai, 34" Steelhead in ..a place... And great fun fishing all over the Western states with my 5 wt. I finally bought the Gen IV and Ideal Nymph reel and went from 3 fish last Friday to 40 fish this past friday including nice 20" brown. When the streams here see 5,000 Minnesotans that don't have trout streams adding pressure euro nymphing does the trick. Caught two simultaneously in the afternoon as well. Feels like I entered a cheat code.

Great gift!

This was a gift. The feedback is very positive in how light, accurate and responsive the rod and reel combination is when fishing. Five stars!

Gen IV Nymph 3wt

I paired this with the Diamondback Aeroflex 3 weight and this thing high sticks beautifully. I haven’t landed a huge fish yet to test the backbone but so far this rod has held its own. My arm got tired and I found myself switching to the left hand a lot with Echo 4wt. I haven’t had to do this with this rod. Will be buying the 4 wt. for pitching streamer jigs when it comes out.

10’-7” 3wt

The perfect rod for tight line nymphing. Very sensitive tip to feel every little thing. Good recovery on cast. Great backbone for bringing in larger fish. The perfect length for getting a little extra distance, but not too long for medium/large creeks. Would highly recommend.

Excellent Rod!

Love the length and tip feel, this rod handled both smaller fish and a larger wild brown on jig streamers. I love how sensitive it is, you’re connected to the fly and feel everything. Cannot recommend this rod enough!

Great Rod

My go to euronymphing rod is a Gen IV 10’ 7 in 3wt. It’s an absolutely awesome rod and I definitely recommend it for anyone getting into this game or wanting a killer upgrade. However, fall fishing on the Deschutes River in Central Oregon often leads to hookups with some of the strongest summer steelhead you will ever encounter. To increase my chances of landing these fish I decided to move up to the 6wt. It’s an incredible rod with the backbone to stop and land big fish in big, fast water. It has the sensitivity of the 3 wt and the backbone of a 7 or 8 wt. Diamondback makes phenomenal euronymphing rods and you won’t be disappointed with either of these.

So far so good!

Got this out a couple times so far. Build and finish are excellent, lightweight is amazing, sensitive tip makes a real difference. It’s not lightyears beyond a 2-300 dollar euro rod, but it’s definitely better.

Outstanding!

There is not enough that can be said about not just these rods, but also the company. The Gen IV - much like the original Ideal Nymph - sets a new standard for quality and price. The customer service I received recently and in the past has been extraordinary.

10.7ft 2wt Gen IV

For anyone in the UK looking at Diamondback rods my experience from receiving whole rods to ordering a spare tip the service is almost as quick as any you will find in the UK.

The rod I now have is a huge improvement on the previous generation. The tip is much softer whilst retaining the same amount of backbone lower down the blank.

The reel seat fittings are made from far more solid aluminium and the butt ring is much closer to the cork for better control over sag if you use a nymph line.

The tip recovery is also very good on this rod and after a couple of months using it I’m very impressed.

Generation IV Nymph Rod Aces All Tests!

I am the proud owner of a 10’ 7” 2 weight Gen IV nymph rod. I am very impressed with its recovery, sensitivity and fish fighting ability! I had an opportunity the other day to switch to a two weight fly line. The rod handled my dry fly fishing with no complaints.

It's Not a Fly Rod; It's a Laser Pointer!

Just picked up a Gev IV 10' 2-weight (cork grip) and it's the most precise rod I've ever owned. I've fished it twice with a micro leader setup and am still in awe of how incredibly accurate it is, even with beads down to 2mm. It's light, balances well and is just a joy on water. I have a 2 weight line I want to spool onto my reel because I bet it'll make a pretty sweet dry fly rod, too. Thanks, Joe and everyone at Diamondback for a truly awesome piece.

Super Versatile Rod

I recieved the Generation IV Nymph rod in 3wt - 10 foot. This rod was to upgrade my trout contact rod. Based on reviews, I tried casting it with a WF Rio Creek Line and it cast great. On my first outing, decided to fish it with that WF line with a rather large dry dropper rig - and it cast better than my Sage 3 weight dry fly rod. This rod fishes dries on a standard line, with no compromises. I am optimistic that this rod is promising to be truely versatile - contact nymphing and dry fly fishing with standard lines.

I love my Ideal Nymph rods. This Gen IV seems lighter, more well appointed, and a step up from the rods I already love.

Nice job, joe Goodspeed!
