This rod is absolutely amazing. Don't let the shorter length of the fly rod worry you, this rod will help you in tight quarters and give you more leverage on the fish. I use this rod for my backcountry snook and tarpon, as well as peacock bass. The rod offers great comfortability, as it is feather light, and can sling heavier flies without an issue. 10/10 recommend for any angler looking to try something different.

The Aeroflex 7/8 Saltwater reel, is esthetically appealing. This reel is truly form meets function. I like it so much I also ordered the 9/10. Plenty of stopping power, sealed drag and large arbor for line retrieval, make this well priced reel a competitor for any $800.00 to $1000.00 reel out there.

Perfect smaller reel which balances easily with most any euro rod. I have it for shorter 10’ + models for smaller to medium rivers. It’s plenty of reel for any trout. Superb quality, drag, design and tolerances. The 1/2 is unique in size compared with other euro reels on the market. The only potential improvement would be in the removable weights (compared with Sage ESN, for example) but the design, construction, appearance, drag and understated elegance coupled with performance make this line of reels superior. Great product. Built to last and will remain relevant. Would recommend to anyone. The model 3/4 is equally impressive and stands out among all euro reels of its size (due to attention to details) including the newest models from Hardy and Lamson. Have compared directly with virtually every reel on the market and prefer the Ideal for its attention to detail and performance. Looking forward to the 6/7 model for wild steelhead.

I just recently received this top shelf reel in time to catch and release several jumbo bonito and striped bass. Everything about this reel screams premium from the drag to the drag adjustment and balance with the 9,10 and even the 11 weight AeroFlex Salt rods I own. My guide clients absolutely love them! I had been looking for euro nymphing rod,#2 over 10 feet length. Finally, I found Diamondback Ideal Nymph 10' 10” #2. By now I have tried it three times and caught four rainbowtrouts around 16 inches. It' very sensitive and easy to catch big trouts. I love it!!

I absolutely love this rod! Together with the 3/4 wt reel it balances perfectly! Great action and great recovery-speed, makes it perfect for nymphing!

I own the aeroflex in a 9' 5wt, 9' 6wt, 9'7wt and a 9' 8wt. And they all perform great. Broke 2 of them, one was my fault other might of been a defect not sure, anyways they replaced both for a very reasonable price and got the replacement section to my house in less than a week both times. I fish them hard hard and if one does happen to break i will have a new piece within a week. I would definitely recommend this rod.

Crisp and responsive, well built rod.

Very happy with this rod. Use it primarily on the Madison in MT. Have landed several browns in the 18” range. Plenty of backbone to handle larger fish. Placement of the guides is excellent. Highly recommend the rod.
